Miracles Abound

by Miracle Chasers on 02/06/11

The new year is only a couple of weeks old and already miracles are in the national spotlight.  January 15th marks the two year anniversary of what has come to be known as "The Miracle on the Hudson"- the harrowing story of landing a commercial jet on the Hudson River by Captain "Sully" Sullenberger who said his "...whole life had prepared him for that day."  155 people escaped with their lives on that fateful flight.

In the midst of the tragedy in Tuscon, where a gunman opened fire murdering 6 innocent people, one of the doctor's caring for Congresswoman Gifford responded to a question about the nature of her recovery so far,  "Miracles happen every day, and in medicine, we like to attribute them to what we do or what others do around us.  A lot of medicine is outside of our control.  We are wise to acknowledge miracles."

As the three of us have traveled the country, we mave met many WISE souls willing to acknowledge miracles as part of the fabric of their lives...if you are one of these wise souls, we look forward to hearing from you as part of this miracle online blog.

When I start out my day saying “God, I turn my will and my life over to you to do with me as you will”. I pray and meditate and an idea pops in to my head, I take a deep breath and say ok God, is this your will? Take a moment and wait for a sign, if I am open I see the sign and then I know it is Gods will. I then go out with faith in action and faith with works. Faith without action and faith without works is dead. This is not only about faith but about our will. There is “my will”, “Gods will” and “free will”. When I am in “my will” everything falls apart, I get depressed, loose things, get a small cut of bruise, stuff like that, when I am in free will, my mind says “hey lets go to the movies, lets go surfing” and God gives me free will to do those things. But when I am in “Gods will” I feel a new freedom and happiness and then Miracles happen. I have been experiencing more miracles and the ability to be in Gods grace so much more now in my 50’s but that is another story for another day. Through a series of coincidences and ripples I was able to connect a young woman with Cystic Fibrosis named Tess with Daniel Phillips, brother of blind sister Liz, together to write a song about Miracles, these two young people are not too keen on God, but love music as do I and I guess I was my enthusiastic self and they couldn’t say no, but really it was God who inspiried them to agree.Music is a summoner of spirit. The other miracle is, I got money to pay them, a recording session set up and they will perform it in Aug. God willing. This will all be a miracle, but for today my miracle is that they met and agreed to write a song and have started writing lyrics. I am still chasing, but every once in a while I feel like I am close to catching the big miracle I’ve been chasing and it is just around the corner. I’m not going to give up 3 min. before the miracle.

Miracle in Japan. March 14, 2011 The sound of a baby's cry amid the rubble seemed so impossible that soldiers searching a tsunami-smashed village dismissed it as a mistake. But it came again. And they realised they had not been hearing things. They pulled away wood and slate, dug back thick oozing mud - and there was the child they described as a tiny miracle.
